In anticipation of the Umoja Extension 1 (UE1) Cluster 5 deployment, the Kuwait Joint Support Office (KJSO) has been educating its national staff about the changes coming with Umoja. One of the main structures in place to help ensure staff embrace Umoja is the close collaboration between KJSO’s UE1 Deployment Team and the DFS Umoja Project Management Office in UNHQ. “Change management requires staff to adjust to the new changes.

The Umoja Post-Implementation Review (UPIR) Task Force was created following the largest deployments of Umoja last year. The Task Force, comprised of staff members from various duty stations, meets by video-teleconference twice a month to discuss production issues.  A typical agenda covers the progress on Task Force actions, which is reported by each Process Owner. Feedback is received from the entities on issues relating to how the Organization is adapting to change.

We are pleased to confirm that this Saturday 18 June 2016 (NY time), Single Sign On (SSO) will be activated for all Umoja users. As part of OICT’s initiative to implement SSO for all UN applications, Umoja users will only need their Unite Identity (formerly known as EIDMS) to log into the Umoja Portal, Umoja Self-Service and BI reporting.

Whether it be Baghdad, New York or Kuwait, Umoja is facilitating the United Nations transition into a new way of working. Since Umoja deployment in Peacekeeping Missions, DFS supported offices are using Umoja for their daily operations.  As is the case of KJSO (Kuwait Joint Support Office). 

“So far, the Kuwait Joint Support Office has wholeheartedly adopted Umoja, and it has become a part of our everyday UN work life,” said a staff member from the KJSO Communications Team.

The Umoja Training Team has revised and streamlined the Umoja Academy Local Process Expert Integrated Programmes and the certification process. The re-designed curriculum supports the LPEs and experienced transactional users to expand their knowledge and skills utilizing Umoja.

The programme builds LPEs capacity as Tier 0 or 2B support by focusing on end-to-end processes, integration with other module areas, reporting, trouble-shooting and creating effective iNeed tickets. The curriculum forges synergies among functional areas to reinforce skills across modules.

When you log in to iSeek, the UN Intranet, on 15 December, you will use your Unite Identity login and password, instead of the Lotus Notes webmail credentials in use now. When would that apply? Typically, you would need to log into iSeek if you want to post an ad, if you are using the mobile version, or consulting from outside UN premises.
