ECA Hosts First Real Estate Capacity Building Workshop
The Office of Central Support Services (OCSS) recently held its first Umoja Real Estate Capacity Building Workshop at the Economic Commission of Africa (ECA).
The workshop consisted of Umoja End User Training and Local Process Expert (LPE) certification sessions. 20 participants, including six from peacekeeping missions, received end user training and 13 participants were successfully certified as Real Estate Local Process Experts.
OCCS will be conducting a series of real estate capacity building workshops as part of ongoing efforts to support the global real estate user community and to increase the number of LPEs to support end users. The workshops aim to cover all Offices Away from Headquarters and the Regional Commissions.
DFS staff will also be trained to support the initiative by providing training sessions to DPKO/DFS entities. These sessions will take the format of training and certification workshops as well as "Real Estate Portfolio Clinics", where Real Estate Process Experts will have in-depth, one-to-one working sessions with each entity to address their specific concerns and provide solutions to issues they are facing.
OCSS has planned related activities during 2017 in an effort to further enhance capacity building initiatives and strengthen policy and management guidance of the UN global real estate portfolio.
