New eLearning Platform, iLearn Umoja, Now Available to Staff
Learning is an integral part of the business transformation journey the UN Secretariat has embarked on through Umoja. The latest addition iLearn Umoja, an eLearning platform introduced to train staff on Umoja Extension 2 (UE2) modules. It facilitates self-learning and provides easy access to training content. Staff can learn at their own pace and use “just-in-time” information that enables them to perform their duties in Umoja.
iLearn Umoja hosts a catalogue of UE2 courses and provides direct access to content on the processes and transactions. Training content for Strategic Planning, Budgeting, Fundraising and Donor Relationship Management is grouped by thematic area. After completion, staff members are invited to rate the course, which helps the Umoja training team to measure its effectiveness and make necessary improvements.
UE2 courses on iLearn Umoja can also be used on-the-go, since staff can stream content on their mobile devices and download course guides or job aids for off-line reference. The discussion forum, a social feature, enables staff to collaborate with a community of users, share knowledge and tips, and learn by asking peers and experts. In addition, staff can use iLearn Umoja to participate in webinars and learn about upcoming training events.
Nelli Yen, a Finance Assistant at the UN Mine Action Service, is one of the many staff members who have used the new training portal. "I found the six modules very helpful and learned to navigate and interact with the new solution. I liked that I could use the modules to practice using the solution and could download course guides in PDF format,” she said. Other colleagues in the field who may have limited technical support will find iLearn Umoja especially helpful since the training is self-explanatory.
