Umoja Reporting – see the Secretariat in a new light

The new Umoja Reporting page is live! One of the transformative benefits of Umoja is the ability to conduct complex and real-time analysis of key data. Umoja reports allow UN staff and managers to:

  • Get data when you need it most
  • View and analyse a variety of metrics at your convenience
  • Process high volumes of data
  • Improve work efficiency
  • Support strategic planning and decision-making

The Umoja reporting capabilities offer an unprecedented view into the Secretariat’s operations and processes. While the UN is still harnessing the benefits of these robust tools, numerous reports are available to users:

  1. Transactional reports (ECC/SRM) enable real-time data reporting. They are comprised of lists, which allow aggregation, drill-down capabilities and are usually function specific.
  2. Business Intelligence (BI) is a separate system devoted to reporting, where data is organized in a way that allows faster generation of reports. It allows information aggregation, trend analysis with drill-down capabilities, KPI tracking, provides numerous tools and outputs, and enables self-service reporting.

The new Reporting page on the Umoja website presents an inventory of commonly-used reports   available in the Umoja transactional system “Enterprise Core Component” (ECC). An inventory of Business Intelligence reports is also available. Please note that access to the actual reports is only possible via the ECC Portal.

Key aspects of each report, such as purpose, potential users, T Code, etc., have been included to help understand their use and functionality. Staff will be guided to make the appropriate selection of field/parameter combinations to run reports most efficiently and effectively. Screenshots are also included, where available, for further information.

Optimizing the capabilities of Umoja and BI reports will require the UN to re-imagine its approach to business planning and take full advantage of the digital transformation lead by the Secretariat. Staff members are encouraged to learn more using the following resources:
