RELEASE NOTES

Umoja Release Notes detail all the latest enhancements made to improve the Umoja solution. In the month of January 2017 alone, the underlying software on which the Umoja solution is based was updated, upgraded or enhanced on 38 separate occasions, in as many as 28 functional areas.

As part of the January  2017 payroll processing, specific Umoja Employee Self-Service functionalities will be unavailable for a short period of time.

For the month of January 2017, the following ESS/MSS 'freeze' schedule will be in effect: 

NY based General Service and related staff (L1) pay areas: 
Friday, 13 January at 5pm (NY time) to Thursday, 19 January at 9am;

It has been an honor to support the Organization through the Umoja journey, and have the cooperation and collaboration of colleagues from all over the world as we work on one of the most complex and transformative initiatives in the UN history.

During 2016, Umoja built on many past accomplishments, and reached new milestones. Over the past year, Umoja was deployed to national staff and individual uniformed personnel in special political missions and peacekeeping operations (cluster 5), bringing the number of Umoja users around the globe to 42,000 staff at 400 locations worldwide, with 47,056 personnel being payrolled per month, including Uniformed Personnel. For the first time, the entire Secretariat has a single, modern administrative solution that enables the management of the Organization’s resources.

UMOJA UNAVAILABLE SATURDAY 3 DECEMBER 
As broadcasted by Unite Service Desk, most Umoja applications (ECC/P1E, SRM/Portal and Employee/Manager Self-Service) will be unavailable for 2 hours this Saturday, 3 December from 5:30 am to 7:30 am CET (Friday 11:30 pm to 1:30 am Saturday NY time). The downtime is required to conduct necessary routine maintenance.

UPGRADE AND MAINTENANCE NOTIFICATIONS
Unite Identity Upgrade
As announced by the Unite Service Desk, Unite Identity will be upgraded on Sunday, 27 November 2016 from 2:00 am CET (Saturday, 26 November at 8:00 pm NYT) to 10:00 am CET (4:00 am NYT). All systems utilizing Unite Identity, including Umoja, will be unavailable for login during that period.

NEW COMMITMENTS AND PRE-COMMITMENTS BI REPORT
OPPBA and the Umoja BI team have developed a new Commitments and Pre-Commitments report. The report allows entities to monitor pre-commitments and commitments at year-end and budget period closing in order to ensure committed funds are used within the relevant period.

On 1 November 2016, the Umoja human resources and payroll functionality became available for over 11,600 national staff and 6,800 uniformed personnel from peacekeeping operations and special political missions. 

The Go-live event, held simultaneously in the field and at UNHQ, was led by the Chef de Cabinet Mr. Mulet, the Under-Secretary-General for Field Support Mr. Khare, the Under-Secretary-General for Management Mr. Takasu, the Assistant Secretary-General for Field Support Ms. Buttenheim, and the Deputy Umoja Project Director Ms. de la Piedra.
