Umoja is a holistic solution that will enhance the United Nations' capacity to manage its financial, human and physical resources.
The first aspect of the Umoja solution concerns people. With the roll-out of Umoja, UN staff will have the opportunity to learn new skill sets and peform more value added tasks.
Umoja is also about implementing new ways of working – new processes. The Umoja team, in collaboration with hundreds of staff - Subject Matter Experts - from around the UN, has been re-engineering the UN's administrative practices. Together they are streamlining the processes so that the Organization's resources are better utilized. They are also improving the UN's ability to measure results from its programmes and projects.
The third aspect of Umoja is about technology. It is an enterprise resource planning solution (ERP), a robust application that enables global organizations to operate with speed and agility. Umoja will replace many systems in the UN and interface with other key applications. It will enable staff members to access information from one comprehensive platform.
